purebloggers.com...?

I've had a couple of emails from 'purebloggers.com' of late, luckily they've been relegated to my 'junk email' folder, so it gave me pause to think and investigate.

It looked legit but you know how wary you have to be, so I did a search and wasn't really able to find anything.

My stats show in the last week there has been 5 referrals under 'traffic sources' from this site, and 6 in the month. It appears to have ramped up in the last 7 days.

The email comes from purebloggerss@gmail.com (with a double 's') and it looks like this:

If anyone has any other information on this please let others know, just in case. You can never be too careful in this environment.

I hadn't heard of them until Katrina posted a query about them on Facebook, linking back to your post here. I Googled and found a number of profiles of bloggers who've signed up with them - whether these are actual people or not, I have no idea. What I mostly found was a whole lot of posts just like yours, from people who have received these emails and who are extremely skeptical about the legitimacy of the site.

Nobody has heard of them, and yet they claim to be the biggest blog network...? Compare their log-in page to Facebook's and you can see that they've directly ripped off FB's template and even some of the text. That concerns me....

Check out some of the posts about them when you Google "who is pure blogger.com" You're right to be wary.

Oh, and one of the profiles I looked at had a blog url listed, so I checked it out. The blogger profile said she was from the US, but the blog posts were all written in Russian. Possible, but unlikely... I suspect that they may have created some blogs and just done a copy/paste from REAL blogs with backdated entries to give them the appearance of being legit and make their dodgy site look as though it has real bloggers all signed up.

You can view this page quite safely (at least I did): http://purebloggers.com/blog/ Many of the same "blogs" appear in all categories, and two that I clicked on are nothing more than "scraper" sites. The posts are most likely stolen from other sites and posted as original material, to capture search engine traffic. Why? Because they have ads EVERYWHERE.

Unfortunately, it looks as though some unsuspecting genuine bloggers have signed up, which is going to lend the site legitimacy (and give it more traffic).
Mmmm...I did a google search also and found some bloggers referring to the same results as me. Thanks for looking further into it. I think it's something we should all put out there so other bloggers can be aware...T
I've been getting these emails too. I've just been deleting them. Looks too dodgy for my liking...
If it ends up in my spam and is not full of images (images always dictate spam ;( ) I often treat it just as such... looks like that is pretty much what you should do too... very annoying x
